September 8th, 2001 Fort Greely, Alaska

Regrouping in the rest area parking lot near Fort Greely after caravaning from Fairbanks when the school bus (very mysteriously) never showed.

Starting off on our "third of a mile" march to the entrance of the base....

Residents of Delta and supporters of NMD awaiting us at the entrance to Fort Greely.

A lovely 1.5 miles later, we make it and join up with those Delta residents welcoming NMD, while somewhere just east of us bulldozers are clearing 135 acres for interceptor missile silos.

***************************

Lynn DeFilippo amid fellow Alaskans - both for and against NMD - continuing the global debate.

The musicians, spontaneous lyrics, beautiful sunny weather, and fresh-baked goodies from Delta school kids made an excellent combination.

Stacey Fritz grins at Steve Cleary of Anchorage - hard-working AkPIRGer and coordinator of

CODE: Citizens Opposed to Defense Experiments, our statewide anti-NMD coalition.

Thanks to all who came

and to all of you who were with us in spirit.

These photos and all our energy go out to the demonstrators awaiting trial in LA who wished us luck on this day - to Jennifer Aigular and ALL the loved ones of the Vandenberg 17 and of course those brave individuals themselves - thank you for your dedication.
